What to Expect From a Be Well Class

A specialized yoga methodology

Our Be Well Yoga for Cancer Recovery program is tailored to address the specific physical and emotional needs left by cancer and its treatments. This is not just another "gentle" or "restorative" yoga class. Our classes help students regain strength and mobility after surgery, support a healthy immune system, protect and strengthen bones weakened from treatments, and reduce stress.

A Modified Practice

All Be Well classes are led by certified yoga teachers who have completed our 55-hour Be Well Yoga for Cancer Recovery Teacher Training Program. Each class also includes a Be Well Certified assistant who is there to maintain a safe environment and to offer the option of Reiki (healing energy touch) during class. Instructors are trained to consider the many possible limitations and side effects that cancer, surgeries, and cancer treatment cause. The practice is modified based on the student's individual needs, with safety being our number one priority.

A Safe Haven

Our Weekly Classes are a safe haven for our students. A place they can come to find peace and stillness amid all the turmoil that life with cancer brings. We create a loving community where students feel comfortable being just who they are as they renegotiate their relationship with themselves and figure out their "new normal." While no prior yoga experience is necessary, we do require that students safely move from standing to seated on the floor and back up again. You are welcome to bring a loved one/caregiver to class with you for additional support.
